MC Rene

There are so many descriptions that apply to Rene: deep researcher of rap, the tryer, an undogmatic rap traditionalist or simply the most real thing there is in the German rap cosmos.

In the course of his 30-year career, Rene has experienced pretty much everything: he was considered a rap child prodigy and freestyle god in the 1990s, became famous without charting, moderated Mixery Raw Deluxe from 2000, hung out with the figureheads who were just growing up of street rap and withdrew after its triumph. Rene moved to Berlin in the mid-nineties, had disappeared into oblivion in Berlin's nightlife and call center work. But Rene was drawn back to the stage: he quit his apartment, lived on the train for a year with the aim of becoming a comedian and wrote a book about it.

At the end of his journey he ended up back where he started: since 2013 he's back in the rap game and delivering like never before. Together with the beatmakers Carl Crings and later Figub Brazlevic, he reached his creative zenith from which he never comes down. Instead of repeating himself, MC Rene constantly expands the limits of his cosmos. Instead of following the zeitgeist, he perfects his style, discovers new flows and new vocal ranges and has gotten involved with the crème de la crème of beatmakers for the appropriate sound design. The musical nomad has arrived: meanwhile two albums with boom bap wizard Figub Brazlevic and always fresh influences from young beat jugglers like KOE The Flavekid or Jules Hierro, which expands the musical scope of action and on top of that is good for the soul, because such a musical back is worth a lot.
